Hi guys and gals.
First of all, im new here so I want to say hello to you all. that's a great living forum you got here and it was nice browsing for the last couple of weeks. Now for my question. i attaches pictures of my 45 days old plant. it's about 60cm tall and was grown in a small confined closet with a single compact 30W fluorescent light (i know it's cheap and not enough, but that's my first time growing and i thought i would give it a try before advancing). BTW. in the same closet there's another plant that's about 40cm high. they both planted at the same day but my lightbulb fell down on it and stayed like that for about a full day so i think that's what slowed it down (who said amature???), so i wonder if its ok to start flowering them both together. anyway, im thinking that maybe it's time to start 12\12 to get them flowering. and im here asking for your healthy advice bout that. thnx, here are the pics. |

What kind of plants are they?
I started my White Skunk at about 45cm and they are now full bushes of well over 1,30mt. I have a 250 hps and looking back I wished I could have started to flower them a bit earlier as my lamp has trouble penetrating the bottom half of the plants. Tops look good, but the lower half is getting very little light. Post some more info of what you want / expect of your grow and as much detail as possible. There are some knowledgeable and experienced growers here in the forum that can surely help you. Good luck! S. |

Hi there destro.
Since it's my first grow and since I'm using one fluorescent and a very small and non-vented closet. I know i cant expect much of it. i just want to know if by this time (60cm after 45 days) it would be wise to start flowering them, or should i wait some more. some guides I read says that 2 ft' plants can be safely flowered while other guides say i should wait for about 3 months to pass from planting to flowering. so i figured that maybe some of you could give me a tip by looking at the pictures. Im sorry and ashamed I cant tell the kind of seeds I used, since i took them from a friend's stash. I would love to start flowering them but not at the price of crapping up 1.5 months of work. So, flower, or wait? |

This plant (and the 40cm one if it looks similar in structure) is large and mature enough to flower immediately.
Letting a plant veg for three months before flowering it (or, more commonly, taking clones from it) has its advantages, but none that are really important for a small grow. The pictured plant is likely to finish between 1m and 1.5m if flowered now. It looks like it has some Sativa in it (not a great deal, but some), so it's vaguely possible that the final height will exceed 1.5m. Not sure if this height is too much for your grow-space, but it's virtually guaranteed that large plants will not receive enough light from a 30w fluorescent to flower properly. As it stands, this plant has grown very well for 45 days under a relatively low powered light; but for flowering, that light will barely give enough lumens to make decent buds at the top of the plant, and has almost no chance of penetrating the foliage to illuminate the lower buds. All in all, nice looking plant with lots of potential. To approach that potential will require at least another three or four 30w lights or maybe a 250-400w HPS. |

Thnx Ganja.
I'll be sure to start flowering this evening. and get at least one more CFL and stick it at mid height. I also covered the growing space with aluminum foil to try not to lose light as much as possible. How long do you recon the flowering stage would be? I'll be sure to post some more pictures when things start moving over there. |
