There's definitely no need to buy bottled water to feed plants!

Even in places where tap water is not fit for human consumption, it's fine for plants, and every country in the industrialised world has safe drinking water.

For hydro grows, it's often necessary to adjust the pH of water, but its usually not that important for soil grows.

Seeds that have been in soil for 2 weeks might be dead, but they also might be viable. I think that Lowryder is descended from Ruderalis, and wild Ruderalis is noted for its tough seeds - they can lie in freezing/wet soil over winter and still germinate in spring.

Trying the Lowryders in moist tissue is a good idea. Use the method described here: http://forum.sensiseeds.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=497
Don't leave the plates somewhere that's very warm, as this can make the tissue dry out too quickly. Room temperature (20-23C) is fine.

If the seeds are still viable, they should germinate and show roots in anywhere from 24hrs to 2 weeks. If they haven't gemrinated after two weeks of being in moist tissue, they're probably dead.

hey ganja,

no need for bottled water? thats great saves me going threw the extra hassle of going to the shop everyday, i thort a perfect pH was more important, but now you say it, i think im just getting confused with hydro systems.

as for my seeds, think they must be dead, but i am still going to try your method until my new pack arives , and if nothing has changed i will just throw them away, at least i have learned from my misstake, as for the new seeds i will germinate them using the method you have shown.

thanks for that ganja, it has been very usefull %3crea%3cy

You're very welcome.

Soil pH regulates itself quite well. This means it can be difficult to change soil pH if it's way off (usually requiring new substances to be mixed through the soil or waiting for bacterial processes to change pH slowly).

On the other hand, this means that water with a different pH is unlikely to mess up soil that's in the right pH range.

Wow, I've never lived anywhere that had cloudy water from the taps. Still, if it's good enough for humans, its more than okay for plants.

Amsterdam water can be pH 8.2 straight from the tap; it's a lot harder than I was used to before I came here, but much less that regions with properly hard water. JFTR, Amsterdam water consistently tests as best water in Europe and some of the best in the world. No flouride, I think.

We used to reduce teh tap water to pH 5.7 or so (using nitric acid) for the hydro set up that once ran in the Museum, but I usually didn't worry when applying it to cannabis growing in soil or to regular houseplants.
