Making Ice-O-Lator

i have just finished making my first batch of hash,i used leaf from a strain called chocolate chunk my iceolator has performed as prommised. i put 200 grams of leaf the little bud leaf you cut of the buds. 2 hours later i have 3 grams of chocky, should i have got more does any one know.

You can expect to get anything up to 10% of the wieght in leaf back as resin, though it depends a lot on the quality of leaf you're using. The more visible crystal there was to begin with, the more you can extract.

I'd definitely give your 200g a few more turns in the ice-olator. Try to get at least 5% of the weight (10g) back as resin.

If making ice-o, you can spend the whole day mixing the leaf in the water, always adding more ice. You can go through 20-50kg of ice working 1kg of clipping.

In Oz you have the advantage that huge bags of party ice are on sale everywhere. In Amsterdam, there are few servos in the first place, and the ones that exist don't sell ice. We have to start freezing water a couple of days in advance (or wait till it snows)

A couple of tips:

The more ice the better. If your bag/bucket contains equal amounts of ice, weed and water, you should get good extraction.

Start out stirring by hand for an hour or so. Remove the resin from the second bag and start again, but using an electric mixer. Continue with the mixer for another hour or three, removing the resin from time to time. If there's nothing in the second bag after your last round of mixing, you can probably discard it. If there's even a little resin in the second bag, you should beat the hell out of the weed/water/ice mix for another hour or so.

You can give up when no more comes out, or when what is caught in the second bag is distinctly green.

Finally, the smaller model of ice-o-lator bags are described as being for 200g of material, but I find you get better, faster extraction if you use 80-100g at a time in the 200g model. This allows the leaf to move more freely in water and shed its resin more easily.
